Give Me Peace

Give my heart peace
Give my soul freedom
Restrained, my gritted teeth
Is stifling my breathing.

My mind spins in circles
I curse its revolutions
It keeps awareness of problems
While offering few solutions.

What is happiness?
What is right?
What am I after in this
Precious life?

What are my wants?
What are my needs?
Why aren’t my thoughts
Matched in my deeds?

Can content
Be found in wealth?
And if not
Is there then contempt of self?

Got me wanting things I don’t need
And needing things I don’t want
This world’s got me on my knees
Trying to make me believe, I’m standing close to top.

Give me peace.
