Life In The City

It’s a lonely existence
Though people are all I see
As I pay the price of admittance
For a slice of life in the city.

I see people talking
All vibrant living their lives
While me I’m just walking
Seem silent but my mind’s so alive.

I see ‘bums’ on the street
Some begging, some are losing their minds
One’s dancing to a silent beat
He looked at me, I saw such a lost child.

I wonder what brought him down this road
As he moved out in front of those cars
Trying to dance and free his soul
Trying to clear his mind from all its scars.
