Distance Myself

I need to distance myself
That’s not always easy
Heed and listen to myself
Be me more freely.

We get so caught up at times
In other endeavours
Put thoughts to the back of our minds
Only ourselves in half measures.

To be the participant
Is often magnificent
But I find it just as significant
To give myself distance.
