I shed a tear
For you are not here
The past is gone
The future’s unclear.
I don’t often weep
But I couldn’t sleep
I got lost in thoughts
Those thoughts were deep.
Those thoughts were of you
All you didn’t get to do
All you didn’t get to see
All you were due.
A life together to build
A gap to never be filled
The sky can get black
The weather chilled
When life is snatched
Before it’s fulfilled.
In life’s great journey
Our lives are but a piece
Yours was taken early
And I can’t prosecute the thief.
If there is an afterlife, I wish you peace
In life, I wish you were given more time
My dear father, long deceased
You are forever alive in my mind.
