Family

One thing I place above all else
Is my family
Who too often thought of me
Before they even thought of themselves.

A family
There can be no greater wealth
Not always there, but when they’re aware
A good one offers help.

My family, thoughts of you, make my heart melt
After all we’ve been through
I know what you do
Isn’t always on offer, for everyone else.

Now

Now I ain’t saying that the King’s back
But me? I got my spring back
So you can go and sling that
Hook, if you bring that.

My mind has been distracted
Now it’s focused on its goals
Knows what it finds attractive
And it’s going to open doors.

You might not see it now
But my head’s back in the game
And I will plough and plough
As I stake my claim.

Me, I’m on a mission
Now there’s nothing in-between
I’m free in my position
So I’m just working on my dreams.

Something I’ll Miss

I wanted to age with you
Now that’s something I’ll miss,
The talks and chats we use to have
Before the reassuring kiss.

You used to tell me all your dreams
As well as all your fears
Figure out the inbetweens
With whispers in our ears.

It took a complicated girl
To simplify my world
More precious than any pearls
Are complicated, loving girls.

Family Tree

There stood a tree
With a love for me
Never felt as free
As when it held me.

It stood for all
So it stood tall
Though unknown to all
What had grown would fall.

For while it stood
It stood for love
And in its wood
It stood above.

No matter the breeze
That battered these trees
It always kept me at ease
All that rattled were its leaves.

Beneath its thick bark
Beat a deep but sick heart
For beneath its thick bark
A weakness would start.

So this tree that fought the wind
That brought me to its Kin
Would be caught from rot within
But it’s us who lost, not him.

Though it knew it wasn’t well
Those who knew it couldn’t tell
It stood stronger to the cell
Made this wood stronger for its spell.

It sheltered me in my youth
Mentored me to be astute
I splendour at its truth
As I remember through its roots.

I believed in it in its time
For its roots interweave with mine
Now what I retrieve from fallen vines
I will try pass down the line.

Autumn left,for Winters cold
The wood cried theft, it was young not old
Many wept, uncontrolled
You cannot measure the breadth, it extended its hold.

Eyes Of A Child

In the eyes of a child
I see everything that’s good
In the eyes of a child
I see the certainty of love.

In the eyes of a child
I see the gift of curiosity
From the eyes of a child
I realign with the child in me.

In the eyes of a child
I see never unending hope
For the eyes of a child
See adventure on every road.

In the eyes of a child
I see all I should strive to do and be
For in the eyes of a child
Lives a world, too many only used to see.

Expose Yourself

Expose yourself
Bare your soul
Chase your dreams
Chase your goals.

Say how you feel
Be real. Be there.
There’s nothing to cover
We are already bare.

Expose yourself
Embrace what you face
Expose yourself
And there’ll be more gifts in wait.

Expose yourself
Experience and taste
Expose yourself
And in exposure feel great.

Expose yourself
For you have nothing to keep
Going to end up in the dirt
Or a fuckin’ ash heap.

Expose yourself
Even when scared
For life is for living
And that’s for who dares.
