Don’t be afraid of who you are
From where you come or where you’ve been
For we are all just fading stars
Living out a dream.

The present is the only thing that lasts
You are a mere commuter.

Savour what you can
For this is just a ride
And leave those lows behind you
When this ride provides you highs.

I need to distance myself
That’s not always easy
Heed and listen to myself
Be me more freely.

We get so caught up at times
In other endeavours
Put thoughts to the back of our minds
Only ourselves in half measures.

To be the participant
Is often magnificent
But I find it just as significant
To give myself distance.

Lately with what I do
You could say I look a clown
Not always put my best show on view
When others have been around.

Often mess and act a fool
To keep the worries from my crown
But if this fool could count on you
He’d never let you down.

They say love is blind
It’ll take over your mind
If it don’t treat you kind
It’s best to leave it behind.

If you put your love out there
And your love gets knocked back
Don’t hate the player
Or even hate the act.

Just move along nicely
Spritely if you will
Do not spite anothers coldness
There is warmth in others still.

When it comes to love
Don’t get caught in playing poker
For that rarely ends good
One usually ends the joker.

Put your cards down
Lay out how you feel
And if you lose the hand
Reshuffle and redeal.

It’s a game of give and take
We can only give and take so much
And if it’s only adding weight
That’s a weight we got to cut.

Times we’re screaming towards the bottom

I take a drag and I run back years
But I wont brag I’ve come back fears
I remember this place in my younger years
Emptied many a case with a hunger for beers.

We were young then
Young men
Young friends
Who loved weekends.

Like a million more like us
Filling all the nightclubs
Just playing our part in the cycle
And that part of my life seemed vital.

Style of life, not recommended
Filed and typed, now it has ended
Not in denial, won’t try and defend it
But I have to smile, some nights were splendid.

You are a creature to behold
A fine piece of work
On you the man is sold
Though you can drive the man berserk.

Not to be for he
For you see not a he for you
He must accept and let that be
For only you know you.

Still beholds you none the less
For you’re a creature made of heart
No doubt one of the best
And you always dressin’ sharp.
