From out of the darkness
Here comes me
A light in the dark 
That’s what I be.
 
Been that way
Since I was a little taller than my father’s knee
And a lot of the responsibility he had
Well, that fell on me.

Through difficult times
I’ve made it through
Difficult times
Come no matter what we do.
 
You can’t hide, they’ve come for me
And they’ll come for you
But the comforting thing is
We decide our attitude.
 
You can’t avoid pain
You can’t avoid loss
But if you are open to change
You can alleviate the cost.
 
A light in the dark
Is what I’ve since tried to be
And keeping light in my heart
Is a great source of pride for me.
 
From out of the darkness

A light in the dark

Let that light 
Shine on me
For a man leaving the dark
Is what you see.

Is what I've been.
 
But now it’s time to let that light
Shine on me
And let the light in my heart
