Dancing With The Devil

Last year was a hard one
Maybe the hardest I’ve ever known
I have known some hard ones
But this one cut the bone.

Lost some of my closest
Watched some of my closest walk through hell
It’s hard to keep it all in place
When you choose to walk with them as well.

If you walk through hell
A little hell will walk through you
For you can’t dance with the devil
Without the devil dancing too.

Last year was a hard one
Maybe the hardest I have known
Yet I’ll always remember it fondly
As life’s greatest stepping stone.

If others emerge for the better
Knowing I helped in the ways that I can
Knowing in the end we walked together
Hopefully made me a better man.

The devil never ceases to dance
And we all have our dance to do
But it’s not a dance to romance
Know the time to change it and partner too.

When your part in the walk is over
When that part of your walk is through
You must choose and change direction
Before the devil changes you.

Last year was a hard one
Maybe the hardest I’ve ever known
And the only way I deal with hard ones
Is to come out of them somehow grown.

I been dancing with the devil
Shit, y’all know me
And we all know the devil
Is something you can’t see.

Part in the walk is over
That part of the walk is through
It’s time to change my partner
Now I’ve a different dance to do.
