Harvest Your Own

You’re better than that

What are you doing?

You’re better than that

You’ve got to keep moving.

Dedicate yourself

To what your heart wants

Stop offering your help

To every lost cause.

Though well intended

It can act as a noose

For somewhere embedded

In your mind’s an excuse.

Justifying your distance

From what you aim to achieve

We can help others much more

Through the lives that we lead.

Chase your own goals

Harvest your seeds

You have little control

Of those always in need.

What you think is help

May be exactly the opposite

Learning to fend for yourself

Is the only real profit.

So lead by the choices

You make for yourself

If they do the same thing

Maybe then can help help.

Hard To Trust

It can be hard to trust
In this modern world
When they advertise lust
As they advertise girls.

It can be hard to trust
In this world of sex
Where they make light of love
And all praise the cheque.

It can be hard to trust
We can be scared to feel
As we go emotionally bust
For a few more coins in the deal.

Got To Get Away From Here

I’ve got to get away from here
Turn my back on this place right here
I’ll be back when things seem more clear
Too much holding me back now here.

I’ve got to run I’ve got to get away
There’s stuff to be done, won’t get done if I stay
This place has a funny old hold on me
It’s like it keeps on telling me I can’t be what I want to be.

I’ve gotta go it’s time for change
I keep playing and losing the same old games
There’s nothing to learn here if I remain
Ain’t like I’ve time to burn but I burn it just the same.

So let me be I’m bursting out that door
I’m suffocating here I can’t take it no more
Let me breathe I’m leaving for sure
This ain’t what I need, it only feeds on me more.

So move aside I’m breaking free
I think it’s time I put a little faith in me
Been losing my mind a victim of my own complacency
Now I can’t wait to see what’s waiting for me.

I’m taking a chance on this man I know
Forget my past I’m giving now a go
It might not last, tell me something I don’t know
I’m going to have a god damn blast, enjoy the god damn show.

So what you see when you look at me?
You see what I am, I see what I can be
So it don’t matter how you keep painting me
Them strokes are wasted, there’s a lot that folks don’t see.

So step back step away from me
I won’t tell you twice no time for niceties
I got places to go and things to see
Let me go you ain’t getting one more thing from me.

I’m bursting out I’m breaking loose
You can run your mouth it will be no use
I never got a God damn thing from you
I never asked, but now I’m telling you.

Going In For The Kill

I’m going in feet first
To quench a deep thirst
Not using my head it’s about to burst
Ignore what its said for it fears the worst.

Thinking don’t fit the bill
When I’ve an inkling for a thrill
Lately its been so run of the mill
Now I’m going in for the kill.

Giving Up

He’s cutting off and giving up
Without even realising
Lights off, eyes shut
Nothing he’s seen, seems appetising.

Pulling out of the race
Feeling no need to compete
Turning away his face
With barely a breeze, he’s admitting defeat.

He just see’s no point in the struggle
The arduous risk taking
Just seems to be hassle and trouble
And losing is so heartbreaking.

Positivity leaves his veins
Trembling nerves take its place
Negativity controls his brain
A dark force, without a face.

Give Yourself To Something

If you’ve given yourself to nothing
Then don’t let nothing get you down
Go give yourself to something
There’s so much of it around.

Set out your building blocks
But don’t build too many walls
It’s good to be hit and rocked
Not be stopped, barely stalled.

We can’t duck all the blows
You’ve to take some to win a fight
Embrace the highs don’t run from lows
By building the walls that block out life.

Learn from every loss
Till you love it like a tutor
Then don’t spare a second thought
For anything but your future.

Give yourself to something
And it gives back in wondrous ways
And out of nothing comes this something
Relieved you smile, knowing nothing would of been good if it stayed.

Give Me That Tune

Give me that um

Give me that umph
Give me that groove

Give me that bump.

Give me that tune

No lyrics just beat

No emotional blueprint

Let only the rhythm get deep.

Give me that substance

That beautiful shit

To give my soul nourishment

Right down to its pit.

Give me those melodies

Those harmonies please

Let me feed off their energy

Only go where they lead.

Give me that peace

That comes on your waves

As my subconscious reaches deep

While my conscious mind feels saved.
