You who watched over us
Always offered a shoulder to us
Always offered love and such trust
Lifted hearts when hearts were crushed
You who had raised us
Lectured and forgave us
Did us endless favours
And never betrayed us.
You who had guided
To whom we confided
With us always sided
And on us often prided.
So quick to love us
So slow to judge us
Together no one could budge us
The greatest of all mothers.
Now your spirit has passed
Having done more than was asked
In our hearts you will last.
Our mother, A master in her craft.
