The Fear

The Fear
When you count the day
And count the year.

The Fear
Lingering in the rear

The Fear
Creeping underneath

The Fear
Depriving you of sleep

The Fear
Sharpening its teeth

The Fear
Hungry for your meat

The Fear
Watching all you do

The Fear
Waiting for its cue

The Fear
Quickening your breath

The Fear
Scared to live, scared of death

The Fear
Scary cause it’s true

The Fear
Real as me, real as you.

The Fear
When you count the day
And count the year.

The Fear
Lingering in the rear.

The Fear
Don’t let it ever stifle you
You keep your eyes ahead
And who cares what’s in its view?

The Days

The days you want to curl up
And just hide from the world
Turn off the lights and shut the blinds
Like a sulking teenage girl.

When things are going against you
And you fear the world outside
The last line of defense to you
Appears to be, to disappear and hide.

Surround yourself in darkness
Close up all the shades
You just don’t have the heart for this
And all you have you think you gave.

Though these are not the days to hide
Or let yourself grow smaller
Indeed when you face the world outside
You must, somehow, walk that little bit taller.

The Day Is Yours

The day is yours
Capture it.
The day is yours
Get after it.
Don’t stay indoors
Trapped in it.
The day is yours
Find rapture in it.

The day is yours
Taste it.
The day is yours
Chase it.
The day is yours
Embrace it.
Don’t see a day
Wasted.

THE DAY IS YOURS.

Get

     LOST

In

    It.

THE DAY IS YOURS.

Be

    A

       BOSS

In
It.

The Brune

This old house don’t feel the same
Now you are not in it boy
Barely gone a wet day
Yet with you has gone much joy.

Walking in don’t feel the same
Now you’re not there to greet
Losing you a different pain
One to me, unique.

Words could not express the comfort
They can not express the pain
Now there’s the discomfort
Knowing that comfort can not remain.

To love a life, a living thing
For life and love alone
A simplifying warmth did bring
Making material things a home.

Hours spent in silent games
Broken by spurts of foolish talk
Were good as times I cleared my brain
Among our many walks.

Memories only held by me
Would never be for you
Many times of difficulty
Your company saw me through.

Countless acts of bonding
In language no words need speak
Will always be remembered fondly
Now presence can not reach.

Sit amused for hours
Watching things you’d do
Often wishing I had the powers
To know thoughts, behind actions I could view.

To love a life, a living thing
For life and love alone
A simplifying warmth does bring
Only experience can make known.

Now this house don’t feel the same
So it feels the same as me
For losing you has brought some change
The only change you brought, I wish not be.

Love you got, and love did give
And loved you shall stay
Loved as much for things you did
As times of stubborn refusal to obey.

To love a life, a living thing
For life and love alone
A simplifying warmth did bring
The experience, among the greatest, I have known.

The Artist

You are the artist that touches my soul
Reaches deepest, where I let very few go
You are the giver, the barer of heart
The bravest of actions, a thin layer to your art.

You are one of them heavy people
Helping me run up that hill
Where the hounds of love will find me
Under the Ivy
If they ever catch their kill.

The Artist.

Sonic Perfume

That sweet tune
Tonic ears consume
Like nostrils do with fumes
Sonic perfume.

That melody
That sweet rift
Telling me
It’s secrets.

Beautiful
Life affirming
To some they’re neutral
To me they’re all but burning.

Some make me want to dance
Some make me want to drink
Some make me want to romance
The great one’s make me think.

Some lyrics
They have raised me
More than my words
Can afford.

No limits
To what some gave me
As I internally
Explored.

Sonic perfume
That deep shit
Killing me
With a sweet rift.

That melody
That sweet tune
Tonic ears consume
Like nostrils do with fumes.

Tear On My Cheek

There is a tear upon my cheek
Of which I feel that I should speak
This tear is a well, man it’s deep
For a man not reached his peak.

Could speak severe
With a sheer belief
A career to cheer
When sincere did speak.

Should clear your ear
When you hear his beat
This tear is clear
With a veneer of street.

(In memory of Tupac Shakur)
