Stationary I Sit

Stationary I sit
My body vacantly exists
Mind afar, thoughts from it
Dancing with the stars, in turns and twists.

Peering down
On land and sea
Trying to drown out the sounds
Drowning me.

Mind scans around
For the man I can be
He can’t be found
Only surrounds are seen.

So my mind peers harder
Gazes deeper
Trying to find an outlet
Among life’s maze like features.

Searching for a path
That can be traveled easier
It’s like impossible math
That much seems clearer.

Clear and slightly daunting
A fear in me lies haunting
What I want won’t appear, leave me wanting
Though I feel it’s near, and slightly taunting.

Starman

The stars look very different today
Now a star is gone
Lives now in a different way
As light rays carry on.

There’s a Starman in the sky
He’d like to say hello
Blackstar said goodbye
Knowing we could not let it go.

A musician, a magician
A poet and a friend
This musician had a beginning
To which I can see no end.

So China Girl, Let’s Dance
Through Changes and Sorrow
As now we must advance
With more strings, one less Bow.

There’s a Starman in the sky
He came to blow our minds
In so doing he can never die
Through so many lives still shines.

Could not give everything away
Yet gave so many things to us
Ashes to Ashes
Bowie to Stardust.

Speaking So Sure

Speaking so sure
Feeling so strong
Nothing’s for sure
Could be all wrong.

Fools are full of words
The wise keep less spoke
As words are for the birds
And birds sing every note.

Beware of your predictions
Keep them close to chest
For some of who that listen
Will wish predictions death.

People you may trust
Those you may wish good
Sometimes in emotions depth
Can hate you for your love.

Beware with who you speak
Have caution when you tell
Only let out what you can’t keep
And let those birds sing like hell.

Song For Ireland

Now I could sing a song for Ireland
The country that I love
For when I’m not there, I’m in despair
For it’s her I’m thinking of.
Now I could sing a song for Ireland
Bout her past from where she came
It would have laughs as it would pain
Ireland that’s her name.
Now I could sing a song for Ireland
Bout the men who gave their lives
Left fatherless children and husbandless wives
Cause they’d their freedom in their eyes.
Now I could sing a song for Ireland
Bout her hills and land of green
Her winter chills and summers beam
Of which I often dream.

Now should I sing a song for Ireland
Bout her history of greats
George Bernard Shaw and W.B Yeats
That rest amongst her graves.
Now should I sing a song for Ireland
Of a man upon a bike
Who with such courage and a ferocious might
Proved himself a nations light.
Now should I sing a song for Ireland
Of farmers land and people’s pride
That fertile soil that farmers toil
Charms that spread the countrywide.
Now should I sing a song for Ireland
The place that I call home
Where people welcome me with cups of tea
And I seldom feel alone.

Now would you sing a song for Ireland
Bout her legends and her myths
Her great storytellers and her liquor cellars
We toast with glasses lift.
Now would you sing a song for Ireland
Bout the women across her land
Who when needed have never receded
And are more often the first at hand.
Now would you sing a song for Ireland
The country where I was born
For those emigrated and those who are natives
Who love the splendor of her form.
Now would you sing a song for Ireland
The country that I love
For when I’m not there I’m in despair
For it’s her I’m thinking of.

Something To Value

I am sitting tired
In a foreign room
Sipping on a beer
Mesmerised by a view.

Three mountains set the background
Some look like they have faces too
As if guarding those below
In a village alive with people new.

From here I see a picture
Those below unlikely do
As the lights alight something breathing
With life to me,
As intriguing
As the majestic giants that shape the view.

In a world where many are now valuing
Things I seldom do
I am sipping a beer admiring
Something many may never have a chance to do.

Somedays

I just have some days
Where I be feeling down
Always keeping a brave face
As this world pushes around.

I just have some days
I wouldn’t mind good company
So much we never say
Know there are times it would be good for me.

Sometimes I just get tired
Of taking all the hits
To have someone I could talk to
Somedays is all I wish.

I ain’t looking for pity
I ain’t no charity case
I just have somedays
Don’t we all mate?

I just have somedays
And don’t we fucking all?
Just have those fucking days
We tire of hitting walls.

I just have somedays
Today was just one of them
But tomorrows a new day
Thank God for fucking them.

Don’t mind what I just said
Today I’m feeling great
Just needed to clear my head
Thanks for being a mate.

Thanks for being there
Is all I want to say
How lucky I truly am
Just being a fool today.

Thanks for your advice
For lending just an ear
I’ll sleep better for it tonight
And would you look, tomorrows nearly here.

Someone Once Asked Me

Someone once asked me if I knew what love is
I only do now, but I always thought I did
Now I know, I’ll never let it escape me
I’ll allow it to grow, and see where it will take me.

I once let it go and now I find it so heart breaking
This dunce had to grow, and allow it to be his making
Now these eyes go to and fro searching for the same thing
Like a million eyes I know this searching can bring aching.

It’s a killer laying low, hurting while your waiting
Always thinking of the one let go, and how hard it will be replacing
I scarred her man I know, till she was done waiting
Then it hits a harder blow, when you know, you let her face the same thing.
