When darkness comes upon us
Demons try to run us
Sun chooses to shun us
And all we’ve got is dumb luck.
When shadows creep beneath us
The grim try and reap us
And we look for something to keep us
From bowing down to weakness.
Times we are most likely to fail
Hardest times for what we are to prevail
Shadows creep, seeking a chink in the mail
Is when we must reach deep, for our strongest detail.
When surrounded in darkness, it is easy to suffer fright
Easiest time to get disheartened, start questioning our will to fight
Shadows seek the weakest target, look to drain you of all your might
Though, it’s when we are surrounded in darkness, we can shine our brightest light.
