What Use Is It

Tell me what use is it
I look for truth in it
Put our troops in it
Now it’s our youth finished
He studied for a future
Water muddied sack the tutor
Once a commuter on school buses
Now a shooter in the bushes
And a lot ain’t coming home
Shot in the heart
Or apart blown
Oh Johnny will be fine
He’s cute as a fox
But poor Johnny is lying
In dispute in a box.
People follow leaders
Parents are the feeders
Children are the bleeders
Between lines we need readers
Died fighting someone else’s war
Died wondering what for
Didn’t know his executioner
Just another kid with no future
And Mama didn’t raise her son
So he would die waving a gun
And when she’s told his days are done
Her heart decays and her soul turns numb
So tell me what use is it
To put our troops in it
Until our youth finished
None is the only truth I see in it.

It’s been said a million times before
And it’ll be said a million more
When it comes to war
What the hell are we fighting for?
If I could have my say
If I could have my piece
Then upon that day
I would say for peace
The results of war
Are much the same
And at its core
It’s mostly pain
Some folks soar
To financial gain
Others made poor
And financially maimed
Deny a man opportunity
And cripple him financially
And you don’t just cripple him substantially
You cripple him whole handedly
In doing so maybe his whole family
And war’s the provider of both
Often prided as a provider of hope
But a lot of hope is what it snatches
As they lose hope for lost dispatches
And when broke and living on scraps
There’s no way to denote how a man reacts
Leave him trapped and feeling crippled
Looks for cash, it doesn’t even trickle
His family strapped, and barely brittle
Then a man might attack, you feel the ripple
Every action, has a reaction
So every action, must be weighed with compassion
But that’s not how we’ve been acting
That sure isn’t how it happens
And when you see the destruction we can leave
Nations left to bleed
Over simple greed
Then let’s keep it simple please
Why we fighting for someone else?
Destroying the ones that need our help
It’s an irony in itself
It’s tyranny and it’s wealth
Fighting for their freedom
Then facilitating the thieving
Must be a humiliating feeling
Fighting a war you don’t believe in
So if you ask me what’s the use in it?
Profits the only truth that’s ever in it.

We Fall Down Broken

I remember times before
As I remember you all the more
I remember you all the more
And I can’t remember
What or why we started fighting for
And we fall down broken
Words remain unspoken
And we fall down broken.

We drift apart
We change our ways
Move in different directions
But feel the same way
For stubborn hearts
Can’t change their ways
For someone else’s affection
When they don’t see it their way.

And we fall down broken
Words remain unspoken
And we
Fall down broken.

Thing Called Love

It’s a funny old thing, this thing called love
Sometimes love is based on money, which me think is no good
It can make you look a dummy, which never looks too good
And to others it looks funny, you wish it didn’t but it does.

That’s love for you, it can make you feel so small
That’s love for you, makes a joker of us all
That’s love for you, can lift you up to let you fall
But it’s good for you, for when you have it, you have it all.

The Party It Has Ended

The party it has ended
The faces fade away
The sun it has ascended
And cast the light of day.

Away from home
I’ve hit the ground
I’m on my own
Going southbound.

Moving fast
In no hurry
Many have past
Mocked their scurry.

Some try to outlast
Embrace the blurry
When the shadow’s cast
There’s only worry.

It’ll come
There’s no escaping
When rises the sun
It’s knowingly waiting.

Can try and outrun
Escape the aching
Race can’t be won
It waits gaping.

Now I’m wasted
Trying hard to outpace it
It’s near I taste it
‘You lost this race kid’.

I hear it speak
And I feel weak
It’s voice is deep
But not something I’ll keep.

As I retrieve from the peak
It’ll ease in brief
A sleazing thief
Come to relieve the beast.

The Mind Of A Girl

The mind of a girl
Now there’s a crazy world
Be careful when you enter
Thread easy when you venture
It seems easy to offend
Spend half my time trying to mend
My many flaws
Has me banging my head of the walls
Trying to sort out problems that I cause
Wish I’d taken time to pause
Every time I open my mouth
The wrong words come out
It’s like my brain has a drought
When it starts working, it’s drowned out by her shout
So many changes
In her emotional ranges
At times has me feeling
Like we’re two complete strangers
Everything I say, seems to offend her
Makes me feel like a pretender
Don’t feel like a real contender
Her heart may be one I’ll never render
One I’ll never tame
Point the gun but who’s to blame
Time will change
It ain’t been the same
Her furious shouts
Bring curious bouts
Of serious doubts
Delirious louts
Strung out on a love that use to be
What happened to you and me?
Used to stay up all night talking
Now everyday we fight, I feel like walking.

I remember the beginning
When eyes set
One of the sexiest women
I ever met
That’s my opinion
And I’ll never forget
Those nights in linen
Breaking sweat
Now the lights are dimming
You’re always upset
Fights you try winning
To keep me in check
All you do is reject
Has me feeling inept
Feel I’m breaking my neck
To get a little respect
You’re so easy to vex
It’s just gotten complex
Say you don’t want the sex
What’s it going to be next?
It’s getting hard to cope
We’re becoming a joke
We should cut the rope
Before we both choke
We’re just hanging on
To a love that’s gone
In our foolish youth
Fighting nail and tooth
Should we end it now?
All we do is row
Calling me pig, I’m calling you cow
Should we take our bow?
We’re living a lie
Should we say goodbye?
Or turn a blind eye
And give it one more try.

We’re staying together
But we should know better
All I do is upset her
Thought we’d last forever
But we’re drifting apart
There’s a rift in her heart
But I’d be lying to you
There’s a rift in mine to
There’s things we both want to do
But we lie and stay true
We both have our own dreams
Our own ambitions
But we’ve become machines
Our loves tradition
It’s them anniversary days
That keep our ways
When each heart betrays
As each mind portrays
Them exciting days past
So we tighten our grasp
Such big bridges
Take time to burn
We’ve hit many ridges
But in time we’ll learn
I’m just trying to show, some decency
When I was low, she calmed the beast in me
But it’s hard to let go, peacefully
Because’I know, she’s a piece of me
If we say our goodbyes
A piece of me dies
But when I look in her eyes
I know we’re living on lies
It just takes time,
To nip the bud
And up and quit
On your first love.
