What? Why? Love?

What are the things that make me love you?
What is it you have that makes you more?
Why is it you I always long to run to?
And when I leave only long for more?

What is it in you?
Touches something in me.
Makes me feel something new
Changes how I see.

What is it that’s different?
Is it love? Am I sure?
Could it really last the distance?
How much could it endure?

What is it that grips?
Catching unawares
Invisible it exists
More visible when it’s shared.

What is it? Is it love?
Or just a strong fascination?
If one embraces it and it’s good
Can one then resist temptation?

It’s something that I want
Though it scares me right through.
To trust someone with your cares
While all their cares rest on you.

What Do They Know?

Yeah they always want to put us down
Make a joke out of us when we’re around
It seems they want to run us out of town
But what do they know?

Yeah they don’t want to see us in this place
Soon as they see us their straight on our case
I’m tired of seeing their judgement face
But what do they know?

Yeah they got our backs against the wall
Waiting impatiently for us to fall
Yeah they act like they know it all
But what do they know?

See, I only know what I see
And I see you and I see me
And I know they’re everything I’d hate to be
So I stand tall

It’s true that every dog will have its day
But I’m not letting them dogs have their way
They can keep on dogging me
But what do they know?

They can go on running their mouth
We’re the fire they can’t put out
They don’t know what we’re about
Cause what do they know?

Yeah they keep on pushing us aside
Hoping we’ll be dragged out with the tide
But the blind can’t see what we don’t hide
For we won’t go.

We won’t go.

What Do I Know?

What do I know?
Little old me
I’m the tinniest of drops
In an ever growing sea.

Where will I go?
In life what will I be?
And where does the time go?
For it seems it’s ever escaping me.

I long to be a success
Though I’m a little unsure of what that is
To laugh and love always seems best
Though laughter doesn’t provide for kids.

What should one do
With this glorious gift of life
For I believe we only get one
And it can be taken any day or night.

So how should one treat
Something so precious
Too rarely given time
So often neglected.

But what do I know?
Don’t ask me
I’m the tinniest of drops
And I haven’t even got a degree.

What Are The Words?

What are the words
When all feels lost
When those you have loved
Are gathering moss?

What are the words
That one can say
To sooth a loved one
When one of theirs has been taken away?

What are the words
That one can give
To heal the living
As their dead once did?

What is the wording
That one can clasp
To lessen the burden
When even the sun seems black?

What is the phrase
That one can offer
That in a time so grave
Will at least seem proper?

What can you say
In moments so chilling
When someones very desire to live
May be losing its willing?

What can you say
To ease the pain
Of those whose lives
Will never be the same?

It seems there are no words
To give them strength
No matter how much deserved
Or how good their intent.

For when those loved
Are forever lost
There is only the inept words
‘Im so, so, sorry for your loss’.

We’re Done We’re Through

We’re done we’re through
It was fun knowing you
For a while a web was spun
I was all caught up in you.

Till a sinking sun
Revealed that skies of blue
Were all untrue
Lying in the shadows
Was another side of you.

Waiting to pounce
And trounce
This once soft but now hardened heart.
Sympathy? Not an ounce
As I bounce
Smiling, from the dark.

Waste

I had dreams you see
Put in front of me
That I could not chase

I had lust you see
But it must not be
Yet you must not waste

That’s what I was told
Growing old
Lessons of my youth

Now I’m here
It seems more clear
That’s not always the truth

For I see now
At times one must bow
to others and their will

When it does no good to row
Sometimes one must allow
Even though it kills.

We Had A Day

Come what may
What they may say
You and I, we had a day
I won’t forget it
Though I didn’t have my way
That bit I regret it
Though at the time I didn’t say.

Time slipped away
As quick as it had come
Said goodbye to the day
Soon as it had begun.
I suppose that is something to say
Must of meant we were having fun
I’ve a picture put away
In my mind forever hung.
