See The Person

Do you see the person
Or do you see the role?
Do you see the person?
Do you see the soul?

Do you see the being?
Do you see the life?
Or are you only seeing
What you choose or like?

If we see the human
Devoid of everything else
When we see another
We will also see ourself.

Do you see the person
Or do you see the role?
Do you see the person?
Do you see the soul?

I Get Scared

I get so scared sometimes, when I think about my life.
You only get one,
And I’ve wasted so much time and energy on fruitless endeavours.
I have walked paths I’ve never wanted, wasted time and acted the fool.

I have loved, and lost. Loved and given up, for foolish ambition
and moronic virtue. I want so much to be successful, to lead a life that will
better my own and those around me. To give myself, self worth, self confidence, and self esteem.

I lie awake sometimes and feel nothing but panic, with thoughts of all I have lost misvalued
and let slip away. As I question what it is I have to offer and where those offerings should be placed.
I do not crave fame, adulation, or adoration. I do crave appreciation, self satisfaction, and a field in which to progress.

But what is that field?

How does one know their path? And that all the lows experienced along that path, are worth experiencing, because that’s your fucking path?

Can one know? Or does a persons fear of taking a new path force them to have steeled determination in the one they’re on?

As much as I feel I can not allow myself to be a failure in life. Not in the short term but in the whole, I realise at times I can, and that’s what drives me, though where it drives me I don’t know.

Am I more a thinker than a doer? And if that’s the case, why the hell can’t I think of what to do?

All of my heroes or people I look up to in life, are people who’ve achieved or done something new.
I have done nothing. My drunken excursions fill me with shame as I waste my life’s talents on drugs and bar stools, as the saying goes, I waste precious time ‘on the nights I can’t remember, with the people I’ll never forget’ though that doesn’t lead me where I want or to who.

I have not yet fully grown up and become a man, I’m a boy in mans clothing or so I feel at times. I am stressed when I shouldn’t be, scared when I should be fearless like the young. I am 28 afraid of 40 and 30 is soon to come.

‘What’s that?’
‘Your one on the telly?’
‘Give her one would ya?’
“Yeah I would’
‘If she was lucky’
‘What’
‘I’m grand yeah’
“Yeah I’ll have another’
‘Same again’
‘Sure what the fuck else would I be at?’
‘What the fuck else would I be at?’

Keep Your Measure

We can’t always be up
We can’t always be high
It’s as okay to laugh
As it’s as okay to cry.

It’s a human experience
Reading this, that’s you
Sharing the experience
Is the best we can do.

We can’t always be smiling
We can’t always shine
Sometimes we’re tired
Sometimes we’re not fine.

Sometimes we have our dips
Sometimes we have our falls
Sometimes we seal our lips
Sometimes we build our walls.

Sometimes we need a little help
Sometimes we need a little rest
Sometimes we need to just think of self
Give others a little less.

We can’t always be flying
We can’t always give
But if we keep on trying
There’s some glorious days to live.

And on those days
When we give and come together
The world will amaze in ways
Till you’ve never felt better.

So keep on pushing
When the world pushes about
When the world says fuck you
Push your fucking chest out.

If you can keep your measure
Like a hidden treasure
When it gets too stormy weather
We’ll fight the bitch together.

Love To Love

I love to love
I love to give
I don’t keep bad blood
I love the life I live.

Made a fool of myself many times
But I love the fool I am
And while there’s life to live
I just don’t give a damn.

I love the life I live
And I got a little love for all
We’ve to create our own happiness
Especially, when we fall.

Life is for the living
And I live my life for love
It’s love that keeps me driven
Love’s my favoured drug.

When you can’t give your love to someone
Then give it to yourself
Love’s my savoured drug
Love’s my favoured wealth.

Learn to love yourself
And others will learn to love you too
And if your love loves someone else
Give it time, you’ll find someone new.

Learn to love your life
Even when it feels life’s not loving you
And if your love gets cut
Heal up and love anew.

There’s so many people in this world
And they all deserve a little love too
Use hurt to help your love toughen up
For tough love, has always seen me through.

Live your life your way
And I’ll live mine my way too
And I love to love
So that’s what I’m gonna do.

You Ever Get Them Nights

You ever get them nights
You just be looking at them stars
Listening to Einaudi tonight
He just playing piano bars.

I got that freedom in my mind
Thinking how beautiful everything is
Young guy walks by with his girlfriend
Then comes a mother pushing her kid.

I got that easy feeling
That incredible awe of life
This setting is so healing
I’m feeling that tonight.

This picture offers clarity
Little clarity is always nice
I’ve been living in confusion
Till confusion feel my life.

I ain’t sitting brooding
I feel magical tonight
Picture so completely soothing
Losing all that makes one uptight.

You ever get them nights
You just be walking looking at stars
Not a single need for talking
Nearly laugh at people in bars.

You just got that magic in you
And it don’t depend on drink
It depends on all these others
And you just having time to think.

You ever get them nights
You just walk our city streets
Breathing in the sights and people
That give our city its beats?

Smiles upon their faces
As they laugh as people do
And a smile crosses my face
Maybe I think of you.

You ever get them nights
You just be looking at them stars
In complete awe of life
Einaudi playing bars.

Me, I drink it in
Rarely feeling more free
Just walking breathing in
The world that I can see.

You ever get them nights
Them nights are there for you
We’re just passing through this life
Don’t let this life pass you.
