The ones who shine lights
The ones who give hope
The ones who give you tether
When you're at the end of your rope.
The ones who give support
The ones who give you strength
Who move with love as centre source
Good their overall intent.
The ones who lighten days
When your days need lightening up
The ones who clear the haze
When your view needs clearing up.
The ones who make sense of madness
Whose acts of kindness pull you through
Help you live and cope through sadness
Overcome, and approach this world anew.
The ones who live in love
Put a little love in all they do
They’re the ones who give my heart a buzz
And help create the world I want to view.
The ones who give you strength
When this world is feeling tough
Are the ones who seal my intent
Make it easier getting up.
I like to think I live and learn
From those who live in love and hope
They give me strength at every turn
Make it so much easier to cope.
Some say it’s the hope that kills you
But it’s always been hope that’s seen me through
So may you live in love and hope
And may others, find some of their hope in you.

The One We Ran Away
Sometimes we hurt
The one’s we love
Cause we are hurting
So deep ourselves
And it’s hard to believe we can experience
The warmth of something that good
While we’re suffering
The cold of hell.
Sometimes we try to ask for help
In the strangest of ways
Cause we’re still trying to protect ourselves
So there’s certain things that we don’t say.
It can be hard to trust your feelings
When all your feelings are doing is getting hurt
And all your efforts and dealings
Keep failing to work.
So we focus on our wounds
Heal in any way we can
It’s not a smooth steady move
It’s a messy, fractured plan.
We focus on ourselves
A little blind to other costs
Even if one of the things driving us from hell
Is that pain of loss.
But maybe we can’t right them wrongs
How we were, when we’re in pain
And all our focus went on getting strong
So we never hurt that way again.
Maybe there’s little we can do
And much less that we can say
And the one we feel sure we love
Will always be, the one we ran away.

Tonight We Dance
Tonight we dance
Tonight we laugh
Tonight we advance
From the past.
Imagine that
On twinkle toes
That we dance away
From misery and woes.
One more beat
One more move
I hear it sweet
I’ve nout to lose.
Only solemn thoughts
And shadow days
I hear that beat
I’m on my way.
What’s that you say?
You want to dance with me?
Then let us dance together
In synchrony, in sympathy?
So sim-p-ly
We move in step
To the symphony
I lose myself.
I lose the weights
I lose my thoughts
In the music’s depth
I get lost.
I rise above
From smaller mind
I fall in love
With a moment in time.
This moment is mine
Its future too
Music hits my spine
And I move anew.
You’re moving too
You move at pace
My spirit lifts
In line with bass.
Look at us
Mere dancing fools
Placing trust
In the composer’s rules.
Where we express ourselves
In our own way
While still giving ourselves
To the music at play.
Can’t always dictate where we go
If we’re to stay in time with the beat
It’s a balance and flow
I’m only happy to keep.
I’ll keep it tonight
I’ll treasure this time
For tonight is ours
And tonight is mine.
Tonight we shine
Tonight we feast
Tonight my mind
Dines with the beat.
I feel a rush
Music comes in waves
Tonight’s for us
Tonight’s to be saved.
The music speaks
The rhythm seeps through
There’s a freedom we meet
In the way that we move.
Tonight we dance
Tonight we laugh
Tonight we advance
From the chains of the past.
Tonight we shine
Tonight we feast
Tonight our minds
Dine with the beat.

Light On Our Parts
Do we drink in these moments?
Do we drink in these nights?
Do we drink in these moments
That piece our parts of life?
How much of it goes by
Not really savoured?
How much is treasured by eye?
And how much of life is laboured?
Do we drink in these days?
Do we drink in the Sun?
And how much will we regret
When our brief days are done?
Do we share with each other?
Shine light on our parts?
Or how much do we keep to self?
How much do we really open our hearts?
This experience is shared
Our experience is brief
Can be a hard life at times to bare
But time is a harder thing to keep.
It’s all we’re ever going to know
It’s all we’re ever going to be
And I just hope when I let go
I leave behind enough parts of me.
We’re here to open up
We’re here to meet others within
Opening up can be quite tough
But closed doors, don’t let much light in.
Got to allow in the light
Shine it on our parts
Tell the stories of our lives
I do that best through art.

Let The Sun Shine Here
Why don’t you give me something new?
Something a little upbeat
I’ve been down in the gloom
Now I need something sweet.
I’m sick of bad times
And I’m sick of bad blood
Maybe just give me a little bit of wine
And maybe just a little bit of love.
Let me breathe something fresh
From a different kind of view
Experience some things less
And a little more things do.
Let the Sun shine here
Let them gloom days run
And with those I hold dear
Watch some good times come.
Let the Sun shine here
Let good things grow
And may those I hold dear
More good times know.

Dancing Out Of Darkness
I’m just dancing out of darkness
Moving toward the light
Trying to put my heart in
Something other than a fight.
I’m just dancing out of hardship
Dancing from the pain
Trying to find joy
In something other than the rain.
For I’ve been dancing in the rain
For what feels a long time
And I’m just dancing out my pain
Trying to clear my mind.
And I’m just trying to clear some space
Fill it up with something new
To give happiness a taste
See where it takes me to.
I’m just trying to let loose my baggage
Leave a little of my past behind
Attack my future like a savage
See what I can find.
I’m just allowing in love
Giving a little of it to my self
For a lot of things ain’t been too good
But I believe that’s something I’m free to help.
I’m just allowing in the moment
I’m allowing in the light
Defeating my biggest opponent
Putting some onus on delight.
Focusing on myself
A little more every day
And I ain’t looking for no one’s help
But I’ll be taking what comes my way.
I’m just dancing out of hardship
Giving myself a little respite
For of course we can’t escape our hardship
So right now, I’m just enjoying the light in sight.
I’m just dancing toward different targets
And my feet are feeling a little light
Hoping they’ve danced some of their hardest
For in their movement something’s starting to feel right.
I’m just dancing out of darkness
Moving toward the light
Taking it step by step
Enjoying this point of life.

Made A Deal With These Streets
He made a deal with these streets
When he was just a kid
Gave himself to the group
And the group let him live.
He found safety in these numbers
Found love on streets of stone
And what a kid won’t do for love
When he ain’t get no love at home.
Gives himself to the group
Form an unspoken bond
Vulnerable in your youth
In the group man you strong.
They say there is strength in numbers
But strength comes in your mind
And that can be the very thing you sacrifice
To the group over time.
Group got its own mentality
Got its own rules
A lot of people here are hiding their reality
And are scared to look like fools.
But he learned quick
He learned to save face
Step back boy
Now know your damn place.
Don’t do anything too brave
Don’t make yourself look soft
For that kind of name
Is hard to shake off.
Now leader’s can normally do what they want
But a leader, that ain’t him
He’s just trying to get out the house
He just wants to fit in.
Just wants to escape his home
And all that goes on there
And right now streets of stone
Are a breath of fresh air.
Made a deal with these streets
When he was just a kid
He gave himself to the group
And the group helped him live.
There are dangers out there
You ain’t got to look too far
Sometimes you get beat up
For just being who you are.
Some of them bigger kids hate
Some of them bigger kids taunt
And the feeling of somewhere safe
Is all this little kid wants.
He’s young and weak
But out here starts to feel like he belong
When the one’s meant to protect him
Are normally the one’s that do him wrong.
Just looking for some peace
When that peace is hard to find
He go out and hit the streets
Laugh away his troubled mind.
He made a deal with these streets
When he was just a kid
Gave himself to the group
And the group let him live.
Ain’t many bad kids here
Just escaping bad times
Looking for a little bit of love
Anywhere that they can find.
There’s love in this circle
They got each others back
Step to one, step to all
But they don’t just get down like that.
They laugh, they listen
For each other are always there
Give each other something they’ve been missing
But of what, they are maybe not even yet quite aware.
You look down your nose
They make you look somewhere else
Protection’s not something they don like clothes
That’s something they built themselves.
They kind of grew as one
Maybe a little more out than in
Trouble went hand in hand with fun
Now trouble’s more often what they’re in.
Made a deal with these streets
When they were just kids
They gave themselves to the group
And the group let them live.
Time ticks on
He gets older too
Some others now doing to them little kids
What them big kids used to do.
That don’t sit right
And it don’t sit easy
But hey that’s life,
Thinks,’I remember when them kids used to tease me’.
In rows a lot
Reminds him of what he was running from
And the peace that he once got
Well, he’s wondering where it’s gone?
Made a deal with these streets
When he was just a kid
Now the deal’s starting to look less sweet
Wonders what other deal there is?
Made a deal with these streets
When they were just kids
They gave themselves to the group
And the group let them live.
